How to Link an Asset to a Jira Issue

Welcome to our guide on utilizing the Asset Panel in Asset Management for Jira. This guide will walk you through how to access and link assets directly to your Jira issues, providing greater visibility and organization for your team.

When you install Asset Management for Jira our Asset Panel will automatically be added to your Jira Projects.

If you would like to restrict access on specific projects please refer to our article Restricting Access to Assets in Jira Projects.

The Linked Asset Panel will be located at the bottom of your issue sidebar. See the screenshot below for an example of how it looks in a JSM ticket.

To open the Asset Panel and link an asset to your Jira issue you'll need to click the down arrow in the Asset Panel. The panel will remain open until you close it, retaining its last state for easy access.

If no assets are linked, position your cursor in the search bar to select from the list or use the Search function. Search for assets by loanee, asset number, or any unique identifier (like serial number).

If assets are already linked, click the +Link Asset option. Select an asset from the list to link it to your Jira issue.

To edit an asset linked to your JSM ticket or Jira issue, simply place your cursor in the field box below the field name for streamlined inline editing.

Enter your details, and then click the '✔' or press ‘Enter’ to save your changes
