How To: Sync Devices and Users with Jamf
By integrating Jamf and Asset Management for Jira, you can:
- Import devices from Jamf into Asset Management for Jira
- Import device users from Jamf into Asset Management for Jira
- Import device assignment from Jamf into Asset Management for Jira
This guide will walk you through setting up this integration step-by-step.
Configure Jamf API Access
To allow AMFJ to communicate with Jamf, set up API access in Jamf:
- Log in to Jamf Pro:
- Navigate to your Jamf Pro dashboard.
- Create API Role:
- Go to Settings > System Settings > API Roles & clients.
- Create a new API Role with the following privileges:
- Read Computers
- Read User
- Read Mobile Devices
- Create API Client
- Go to Settings > System Settings > API Roles & Clients
- Create a new API Client that uses the role you created in the previous step
- Click Save
- Click on Generate Client Secret
- Go to Settings > System Settings > API Roles & Clients
- Save the Client ID and Client Secret
- We will use these credentials to set up the JAMF integration
Configure Asset Management for Jira
To facilitate integration, install an appropriate asset management app in Jira:
- Go to Settings > Integrations
- Click on Connect next to JAMF
- Connect Jamf to Jira
- Enter Jamf API Details:
- Input the Jamf Pro URL (e.g.,
https://your-jamf-instance.jamfcloud.com
). - Enter the API client ID and client secret that you saved in the previous step.

Test the Integration
Once you click Save, we will start syncing your assets from Jamf. They should start showing up in the next few minutes.
